Inspiration and research

For this game I wanted to do blah blah and blah. I had an idea from my favorite childhood cartoons to make villains that threatened the hero in this very cool and interesting way. I started researching different instances of this across the genre which I was looking at and found some very cool and interesting things that inspired me to do cool and interesting things using this cool and interesting game engine. 

Concepts

I worked on some rough comic strips that highlighted the characters and behavior to make them feel like actual characters through their actions and decision making. I then worked on diagrams that outlined the characters’ AI and how I would build the system 

Making the thing

I used behavior trees to make a dynamic AI behavior system that could be reused across enemies, allowing for different types and the ability to communicate with each other. Their brains are so smart and they went from crawling to sprinting in a matter of days of testing out the prototypes. There is an AI controller system with tasks that can be called by characters, allowing the behaviors to be used via multiple different kinds of conditions and in response to a wide variety of stimuli.

How it turned out

This thing that I made was very cool and fun and here is how it turned out! It combines the mentioned frameworks into a full experience that demonstrates the character does xyz! Would be super cool to expand this into a full boss prototype with escalating phases!
